Naked Girl wit Egg(study)

Another Friday here again. Sadly it's my least favorite day of the week, only because I work all weekend. This weekend will be super busy because the stock show is in town and the weather is going to be fantastic. I hope everyone is in a good mood. That will make my job much easier and the day much better. There is always that one person that can disrupt your day, you know those people. Any who, I digress. Today will be a great day! I can go outside on my breaks, because it's going to be in the 70's! Texas is the best!

I'm here to post some progress. A little later than I wanted but it's happening! Since I haven't been sleeping much while lying around for hours, I decided to sketch to help relieve some stress. It was really relaxing to change it up a bit. I made a study sketch of "Naked Girl with Egg." The painting is by Lucian Freud. His work is the first show I ever guarded. I never got tired of staring at his incredible body of work. I don't think I got everything in the sketch but I like the way it turned out. I got a couple of progress shots to show you how I go about sketching. Hope y'all enjoy and have a great weekend.

Be Productive

Well it's another day here in January 2016. This month has gone by ridiculously fast. I can't believe it's already the 19th. I am almost done with the first thing on my to do list for the year. Now that I have the start to a good portfolio, next to do is get busy promoting my work. I will be more aggressive in showing locally and hopefully out of state. Send me positive vibes.

Now lets get to the reason I am here today. I'm posting a work I recently completed. He currently doesn't have a name and consists of graphite, charcoal, white pencil, and matte medium on watercolor paper. I found working on paper a little quicker and fun. I usually just use paper in the process of making ink transfers but decided to use it as my surface. I applied thin layers of medium and lightly added charcoal powder to some areas. I tried to avoid making areas too dense with charcoal, so the small buildup of texture would show within the work. This guy is a start to my paper/small works. I am going to try my hardest to make works weekly along with my body of work. I find it difficult to paint sometimes with my job but I must keep myself productive.

I will create!

I Will Follow

I know it's been a little more than month since I last posted. I have been really busy of late with grad school applications, work, family and the holidays, but I'm finally here again. Today's post is a work I completed about a month ago. This piece took about three months to create. It's been impossible to document due to the clearing process. Just another reason I haven't added this work to my blog. I think I finally have some decent pictures to post and progress shots as well. I may add more photos later but these will do for now.

This work is based from a photo I took about two years ago of my grandparents outside on their front porch as we painted their house. It's one of my favorite photographs. Every time I saw them, they were never apart. That's just how it was, Mama and Daddy(it's what they called each other) always together. The only time they were ever apart was the 8 months between their passing. It was hard to lose them so close together, but I think it was more difficult to see my grandma so down. I know they are happy together again. I am very grateful to have had such incredible, sweet, loving, and humble people in life. Miss you everyday.

Now you know a little about the photograph, we go on to process.
The beginning starts with making acrylic sheets, and ink transfers. I adhere the transfers to medium sheet once they are dry. After removing excess paper, I cut the sheet down to quarter inch squares, make a grid on paper to help with the placement of the squares, and start building the layer.

Next step is adding color to other layers
