Two Studies

I guess it's really time to get with it in applying for grad school. I'm excited but so nervous taking this next crazy step. I can do it! My plan is to finish my statement of purpose & will allow someone to proof read this week... maybe. As y'all know I am not a huge fan of writing, but it's something I must do. I can't believe December got here so fast.

On a brighter note I am just about caught up in my blog. I'm pretty happy about being up to date. It took a while but here we are. "Looks like we made it, look how far we've come my baby..." Woo! This next post is for the two studies I worked on in September/October. One is framed and other I didn't frame. I don't know if I want try something different hanging it. So for the time being, it is done.

Baby Blankets & Summer Sketches

It's been a while but I have been painting my face off and my usual anxious procrastination for finishing a piece. I will hopefully be able to take some good pictures soon. It's in the clearing process. Today it actually looks more murky than when I finished it Monday night. Oh well, I just need it to look decent in a week or so for application pics. Today's post is not about painting but mostly the things I did in the summer, which consisted mostly of baby blanket making, maybe a couple sketches, and pool cleaning blah.

I am going to highlight my baby blankets in this post. I made two this summer for two really awesome mamas. I make them all by hand. I sketch out the images from one of the themes they've chosen. In these works the first theme is The Fox & the Hound and the second is Finding Nemo. Each blanket takes me about a month to make since having a full time job cuts into my work haha. I did get them done, though. So, now you get to see what I made!

Sketching out a floral print.

Gato is definitely bored with me.

Wren name sketches. I embroidered her name on the back of the blanket.

I'm pretty sure I have other small drawings but I must not have them uploaded. Oh well, here are the only two I could find.

Commission of Jimmy Page with Les Paul

So, yesterday was a struggle trying to complete anything of substance. I kept going back and forth like a crazy person. I did get some work in on my current piece and I also have a terrible rough draft for a statement of purpose. I am happy I got some things on my list done, though. Also, since I needed to gather images in my list of things to accomplish I thought I would post the next work.

Another commission piece I completed this year is Jimmy Page with his Les Paul. This guy was a pain in my side. I have to say I am not huge fan of painting guitars. It took me a while to complete this work. Not only because of the detail, but I just couldn't motivate myself some days. I also have to work which always slows me down. I feel non art related work sucks the motivation of painting away. I go to work with a plan in my head saying, "when I get home I'm going to paint." Then I get home, change into my comfy painting clothes, and sit for a sec. The sitting for second turns into hours sometimes. I don't know how that happens but it does. I hope I'm not the only one with this problem. Any who, I digress, back to Jimmy. It took me about two and a half months to complete but I did it! Now y'all get to see the process. Have a good Friday.
