Three more

Well I have realized I am a terrible blogger and should never say when I am going to post. I should just give up saying I'm going to update right away. I get so distracted and I don't get on the computer very often. The two make a bad mix for being blog productive. Oh well, I am here now and trying to have a productive day before I head out for some family fun this evening. Just going to post a couple of works.

These guys are part of the abstract series but have something a little different about them. Since the series is based on memories with a particular person, I decided to gather words and phrases they associate with me. I used them creating the work because each piece is essentially a self-portrait. I also feel each person should have a role in how they have had an impact in my life through my work. I found this is a good way to contribute in a subtle way and not overpower the composition. I tried to allow the text to flow, give them their own space, and kept them within the color schemes chosen for each piece. The text is not very visible in one, but I enjoy knowing they are there, and you really have to observe the work to find them.

I'm not sure if I like the way they are displayed. I may frame them out later, but for now this is how they are currently installed.

Parental Guidance

It's already the 22 of October!? Geez what is happening with this month. I blinked and it's almost over. Things just need to slow down. I am running out of time to get stuff done. I'm going to try and post twice today, but we will see what happens as the day progresses.

This work was a pain to complete. It has a lot of personal meaning to me. I have a love hate relationship with the memories brought up by the painting. It took me years to build the patience to complete it without wanting to destroy it at the same time. There are not really any progress images of this work. So I think I can get another post in today. We'll see. I have lots to do.

Finding My Marbles

Well, I am a sad ranger fan today, but I know we will be good next year. It was a great season guys. You cant make errors in a must win game, and we made three in a row. It hurts my heart to see errors. You baseball players out there, KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL! You can't make a play unless you have the ball. This advice goes a long way.

On a brighter note I am back to make another post today. I am trying to have a productive work week. I know blogging is not painting, however it is working, and I will get some painting in tonight.

Today's post is part of my duck series. I have a plethora of photos regarding the process I use to make my paintings. So, yall get to see my thought process as I go through my work and how I change things to my liking and style from my reference photos.

The brighter blue photos are taken by my phone. I just couldn't get it to pick up the blue. The light by the window may have had an affect on picture too.

I love taping off the images and cutting them out with an x-acto knife in the painting. I want it to protrude out from the flat surface. A nice hard edge makes me excited. I also like when people look closer to see the defined line. I want you to have the urge to touch the work.

Study & Sketches

It's Wednesday already. Where does the time go. There is a time thief and I will catch him one day.

I would like to take a moment wish my Rangers luck in game five of the ALDS. NeverEverQuit! I like this years catchphrase. I am happy we turned this season around. Despite all the injuries this year, they have made the playoffs! I just hope the offense in the middle of the lineup shows up today.

Any who back to my reason for blogging.
I am going to post a mini study right now while I'm getting my images together for the next work I'll be posting. This little guy is created with the remnants of older works. I tend to keep just about everything leftover from projects. You never know when you need it, or just feel like making something with it.

2014

Here are some drawings/work sketches I did as well during the 2014 time frame. I'm sure I have couple more somewhere. Oh well, they can be in another post.
